Taranto linked to transcripts from a 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the U.S. Attorney General’s refusal to allow a foreign journalist into the United States did not violate the First Amendment. The case resulted from Nixon administration attorney general Richard Kleindienst’s refusal to grant a temporary nonimmigrant visa to Marxist Belgian journalist Ernest Mandel.

Uh-huh. Protected speech does not include yelling "fire" in a crowded theater or publicly advocating the removal of fundamental American rights.
You'll notice most politicians carefully talking about "gun violence" or "gun control" while Morgan is out and out calling for a repeal of the 2nd Amendment Big difference.
Which is especially hilarious, considering before an amendment takes place, the legislature has to reach 2/3 consensus and then 3/4 of the people must vote for it.

free speech most expressly covers advocating change, even if that change involves calling for changes to the constitution or bill of rights.
Piers Morgan calling for Americans to demand changes to the 2nd Amendment is exactly what the first amendment is designed to protect.
what is not protected is conspiring to overthrow the government, but merely talking about change is not the same thing as conspiring to start a revolution.
