During the Natalie Maines interview, Howard noted that The Dixie Chicks caught a lot of flack because Natalie said something along the lines, at a UK show, that the Chicks were embarrassed W was from TX (even though he was born in CT, vacationed there, and was schooled in CT). Maines was an early adopter in opposing the war in Iraq.
Howard says now everyone is against it but at that time, a lot of people were for it.
So, is it true? Are most Salooners now anti-Iraq war?
Full-disclosure: I was against it during the run-up, against it during the invasion, and against it after the mission was "accomplished." It totally changed my politics because, at that time, I identified with the Libertarian party and there was a LOT of friction within the party as per the war. It was our own mini, geeky, civil war.
