If you go to their website and search for that show, everything there pretty much looks like a place holder so I don't think the date on there is reliable at all. You only even get to this by searching the website, it's not linked from the official Audience Network page (old N&A show is still there). Searching a website is just a common way to sniff around pages that careless webmasters put up before they're supposed to be put up.

In Artie's appearance on Boomer and Carton just a few minutes ago, Nick's name is casually brought up a lot and Artie doesn't seem to try and keep from mentioning his name at all (which you might expect him to do if Nick were getting the heave-ho). I'm hoping that this is just DirectTV playing it safe with a negotiation with Nick, personally.

what the shows taught me is that nicks comedy act/standup is underrated and trumps arties standup act all day and all night....but artie is radio gold.
since day 1 we've had to endure ricks passive aggressive attitude toward fans and towards artie when artie would start rolling with a bit or in an interview and he'd cut artie off under the guise of "im just doing my job"....it was pathetic.

artie has 10 years experience on the worlds former greatest radio show and instead of nick milking it and encouraging it he acted like a jealous twat.

every time artie mentioned thss nick had to shit on him whereas why wouldnt artie reference the show?.....rick shat on it so many times sheep in here and off here started to actually poop on fatty for bringing it up like it was a bad thing?.whats that saying,"say it enough times even if its wrong or absurd it becomes fact"......rick would constantly shit on artie every fucking time howard was mentioned.

Who are you talking about here? No one has changed their tune, anyway how would you know since you only joined the site last month? Me, I started listening to N&A because of Artie, then became a fan of Nick's. I've said it in plenty of listening threads here that I was a fan. I do agree with MPA on a few points, though not when he says that Nick just plain sucks. For instance Nick's constant use of the same joke references (Kevin Eubanks, Boniva, etc.), though you could say that Artie repeats the same jokes also (Scrabble, St. Louis, etc.). Also when it comes to his hosting abilities, he did cut off callers too early and stuck to the "script" too much. But on the other hand, when Artie had his chance to "go crazy" with the show when he was on his own, he didn't. He stuck to the format like a good boy. Yeah, he let Hanzi talk for awhile, but that was about it.

If Nick is gone, I have a feeling that he quit instead of got fired. I bet there was some sort of disagreement between Artie and Nick, and Nick told the bosses that it was either him or Artie. Obviously they stuck with Artie and Nick quit. Unless there was some major offense, I can't see them firing him. He's been telling the same racist jokes the whole time, why would they decide all of a sudden that it was a problem? As far as cost cutting, why would they have gone through all this trouble and money to get the show to where it is and then just pull the plug? As far as we can tell, the show is successful when it comes to listeners.

So if Nick's gone, for me, it'll suck. I've enjoyed their partnership and it was almost always funny. I will continue listening to the show, especially if they get the right person in there with Artie. If it's that Brent fruit or someone like him, I might not listen religiously as I did before. Someone mentioned Norm, that would be perfect.

Honestly, I wasn't referring to you. Anyway, I've been here a month, but I started out mostly in the N&A listening threads before I went to the Howard forum. That's actually how i found Dawgs, I was looking for N&A news and you can't get anything from SFN anymore. I just found it funny that in the listening threads as recently as last week, a lot of people including myself had suggestions for how to fine tune the show, and a lot of them involved replacing Rick with their favorite comedian, and suddenly there is all this shock and anger, that's all. I think some posters here view this board as more of a roast, so even if they were saying they want Norm now, if he were hired they would say "WHAT! I HATE NORM HIS SITCOM SUCKED AND SO DID DIRTY WORK!", and on the one hand it's funny but it's also frustrating.

I'll put my cards on the table and say that I never really liked Nick, though, so I'm biased.

It was a running joke for the first few months. Rick was into it for awhile. One guy called in for Artie and when Nick bitched the guy said "You gotta love those coattails." Serious burn.

What could be happening is that Ken Kohl is simply appropriating all relevant domain names. Nobody has considered this. I agree that the timing of the website being down is fishy but we dont have any proof that Nick is history. The silence is deafening.
