Rick is a nice guy but his comedy is horrible and he is boring on the radio.

Easy way to find out what's going on, call the Kevin guy and pretend to be from the company that he registered artielangeshow.com with, tell him you need to validate such-and-such information about the business and one of the questions is "What is the nature of the business?" and if he says radio show you know what the deal is.

Yeah because Nick isn't a bigger comedian than Artie. Artie without the Stern Show is nothing. Nick was the head writer for the Chris Rock show when it was on air for HBO. He has written jokes for tons of comedians and been on lots of roasts and shows. He got a Showtime one hour special on his own. He is always on Louis CK's show on FX. He has enough money to retire but he loves sports so he took a job as a sports guy. Something he's been angling for for a long time.

You're insane if you think that Artie can do anything on his own (other than try to kill himself which he also fails at). What did Artie get that he didn't get without Howard helping him? Movie gigs? Beer League? Standup DVDs? All gotten with Howard's name. Half of Artie's jokes in his standup act were about Howard. He gets his gigs from friends, Norm, Saget, Howard, and then goes on a drug rampage. "Sorry Bob...can't make your roast". This is the guy you want leading a radio show? Artie has talent but only when he's sober which he hasn't been since 2005. Artie had four good years on Stern before he imploded. On this show we might not even reach a year? Are you serious?

There's a reason it's the Nick and Artie show and not the Artie and Nick Show. I hope Artie is sober but I doubt it. Pissing in the studio. Constant flu sickness. Arrested in Europe. Calling his girlfriend a cunt and acting insane in public. Oh yeah....that's the kind of stability I want at the head of my radio program.

If Nick leaves it's actually good if he can avoid an Artie meltdown. He can just go work for Chris Rock or Louis CK or one of his other comedy friends. Artie predicted his Stern days would end badly so maybe this is another Artie forced disaster.

P.S. Nick is not going anywhere. Artie would not do the show without Nick. Maybe they are getting rid of Dan Falato.
Who really knows if Nick is out or not, but no offense, but I highly doubt that Artie would walk if Nick was fired. For one, if they do fire Nick, rest assured they are going to pay Nick what ever he is owned on his contract. If Artie was to quit because Nick got fired, for one, Artie could and probably would be sued, and obviously loose out on the money on his contract. I can't see Artie doing that. I also feel Artie wouldn't be wrong if he did stay if Nick got fired for those reasons (plus then everyone else there would be out of a job too)

Pfft. Do it. A good joke is a good joke. Don't tease.

It's ridiculous to say "Artie should stay because it would be a dick move to cost the Twins and Dan a job". Yet Artie wouldn't even have this job if it wasn't for Nick. If Nick is fired then Artie should walk. That is the right move. He owes that job to Nick. But hey...this is Artie "you're not by bro" Lange. Master of hypocrisy.

yea, dumbfuck, because Rick has said before they were trying to find him a partner, how many closed door test shows did that awful chooch do before Artie said I'll do it and they green lit that shit on the spot. Oh and to the above faggot, you know what head writer on the chris rock show pays - jack shit. Rick could retire, but surely couldn't build fucking rock walls. Some of you are complete morons that have no idea how showbiz works

wall of fruity text, read a bit, got bored. Rick is a club comic that has never done anything in his life. hell, Chris Rock obviously didn't give a fuck about Rick when Artie got him to call in for Rick's birthday, he just talked to Artie the whole fuckin time. There is a reason Artie was in movies and a sketch show before Howard, there is a reason he got the Jackie chair, there's a reason he's had so many chances in the biz, there is a reason every guest likes Artie, there's a reason this show got green lit and it's all because of Artie. Pretend that a club comic matters in show biz, but he doesn't; Rick is a good club comic, too, that's what he should do, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah except I work for HBO....oops. And I've met both Nick and Artie in the past. I know how shows are approved and canceled. I got a hilarious call once saying that another horse had died and that LUCK was canceled that I thought that the call was a prank. I've seen shows implode far worse than what will happen if Nick walks from the show. This is nothing.

Nick is more talented than Artie. And Artie is talented. I've worked with lots of comedians including killers like George Carlin and Patrice O'Neal. How many comedians have you worked with?

Nick will do fine. He can get lots of work on his own. Artie cannot because of the drugs. If Nick had teamed up with someone like Patrice or Louis CK for his radio show he might have gotten a five or seven year deal. But Artie is mighty tough to insure because of how he ended his tenures at Mad TV and Sirius. You know....suicides.

You seem to have a personal issue with Nick. That's fine. But you don't know show business nor comedy better than I do. Nick is a high level standup. Top 30 of all time without question. There's a reason why killers like Chris Rock, CK, and Patrice talk about Nick with great respect.

Heh. Just because somebody "works" in show biz doesn't mean they know what they're talking about, or what they're doing. Ha. That's for fuckin sure. Look at all the idiotic, absurd moves that go on in show business. It's got to be more than half of what is going on.

No comment on you or your opinion personally. Just making a point.

I do think Nick is talented. Certainly as a writer. But Artie is real on-air talent. I'll be the first to criticize Artie for all his issues and weaknesses, but on the radio he's just about one of the best that there is. Really. Off the cuff, with the voices. Coming up with bits and characters out of thin air, in real time. And then the stories, the storytelling. I don't think I've ever heard anyone else as good as Artie on the radio. Just straight up being funny on the radio. He's tops.

He will need some kind of "driver" if he's going to continue a show without Nick. Straight man or what have you. The show won't work without somebody like that. Norm would not work. Brian Jones would not work. Carolla.....maybe, but I think they're both kind of too big to both be on together. Too much. Maybe somebody like Greg Fitzimmons....not that I particularly like him or think he'd be that great with Artie...but somebody like that. That can run a show.

    This is damn exciting stuff!

And for the record, Nick DiPaolo is a pro and regardless of your politics, "Raw Nerve" is a great stand-up record.

Artie terrorizing a new partner will be amazing.
    Nothing is ever his fault.
I liked the show better when they talked sports....before it turned into a variety show.
Artie is too lazy to even watch sports center and have a discussion that doesn't involve the 77 Yankees or the 86 Giants...

Of course. Artie's suicide was Howard's fault. Oh wait Artie did the same thing at Mad TV? Hmm...maybe that was Howard's fault as well. Oh Howard should have noticed that Artie was high and helped him? Wait....Artie said that the very week they ordered him to rehab he tried to kill himself in response? Oh great. Artie was bringing heroin into the Sirius building? Better find someone to blame other than Artie. Let's blame his drug dealer that he meets in a parking lot next to a Denny's parking lot (because I don't want to get sued). Artie missed the Saget roast? I blame Saget. Artie got a DWI? Blame the car. Artie showed up on heroin on Joe Buck Live? Blame...Joe Buck.

Look at Artie's behavior in the last year. Pissing in a trash bin and getting suspended. Arrested in Europe and ranting like a lunatic screaming "cunt" in public. Missing work because of the flu. Remind anyone of another time period in Artie's life?

It seems like anytime someone on here says "Artie is on heroin again" the Artie sycophants lash out at them and say "fucking douchebag you are wishing that Artie is high, he's not high asshole, you're just being a negative dickhead". Yet they blame Howard for not seeing Artie was on heroin? Forgive us for being cautious around a guy who has major drug and depression issues.

Artie's behavior now is just like his behavior at Sirius. Now, I hope that he is sober, as I enjoy his standup and I've seen him live twice. Always great with crowds when they yell out Stern references to him. "Fiya!!! Waaaaah!!" "Artie....tell the $500 Vegas hooker story"! And so on. But he just does not seem well. I'd rather see him take another year off and get better than have him burn out now for our short term entertainment and lose him to the long run over a drug overdose or another suicide. It seems like he might have rushed back into work.

I personally think that Artie is sober. Maybe it is wishful thinking. He probably rushed into too tough of a work schedule. He went from doing nothing to doing full time radio and TV, talk show appearances, another book, and a standup tour with Norton's comedy group. Pretty hefty schedule.

The show is far worse since DirecTV took over. The music in particular is an abortion.
