    Your Conspiracy Theory

Alright, what are these changes they are going 'threw'

Artie Lange ‏@ArtieQuitter Hey guys. The Nick & Artie Show is going threw some changes. All is well. See you back on air Monday January 14th. Thanks! Artie

Nothing on Mike Baker's the bad radio maker's twitter, or Mike Baker's run Rick twitter, all we got from the official twitter is:

    Nick and Artie Show ‏@NickandArtie
We have guests hosts all week, we are getting ready to return on Monday January 14!

    So what's up?

    Here's my conspiracy theory:
Show not doing well, getting rid of the studio and directv, Rick on the way out (well, last part is my hope)

    Whatcha think?

That is very possible. We were all initially thinking they were removing all mention of Artie, but maybe it's the other way around. If they were looking to cut costs, getting rid of the studio and Nick would be the way to do it. The show is Artie, Nick already tanked one FM show by himself, so I don't think anyone at DirecTV/Premiere believes for a minute he can carry this one. If I get an Artie/Norm MacDonald show, I will be a very happy man, but that is wishful thinking.

You know I guess I hadn't thought about it this way too. And also reading on here that Artie is in LA doing promo's for the show-and not Nick-kinda adds fuel to this theory as well. While I do think Nick is funny to a point, he is far too miserable for me. His hating everything, and mocking or bringing down anything in the world that most of us would see as a good thing is just tiresome after a while.
And not only that, but the very last thing I want to hear when I tune into listen to N&A is anything political. And I am not even saying if I agree or disagree with what Nick says-I am just saying I don't want to hear it. Not on the N&A show.

In December a guest wanted Nick to say something race-related and Nick said something like "I can't do that anymore. I have new bosses." I thought it was interesting at the time and more so now. Maybe Ken Kohl has been banished, that'd be cool. The website didn't 'crash', it was taken down.

    My theory:

Total revamp, Artie and Nick are being sat down with bosses and getting a nice ass whooping.

Show will be now 80% sports with the other 20 being musical guests and celeb guests.

Twins are gone, possibly Bochetti too.
Reppin Nick and Artie since Day 1

Radio's crazy cutthroat. It seems like most radio shows, when they end, or have a major change, there is absolutely no gradual progression leading up to it. Guy walks in one morning, ready to get on the air and do a show, and next thing he knows he's in somebody's office being told that he's being let go. Everybody else just hangs on for dear life and whatever new "format" the execs switch to. It's pretty wacky.

They're still calling it the Nick and Artie show, so it sounds like they'll both still be on there. I wonder what the big changes are though. Your guess is as good as mine.

The "Artie and Brian Show" ? (Brian Jones)

Actually I think there's more to the whole thing. I think Artie's drug issues are playing some part in all this.

Let me also add that Radio ALWAYS fires/retools at xmas time. Hopefully for Rick's wife and the Guatemalans he hires he has pay or play contract.

Artie's tweeting, Rick isn't. I don't think this has anything to do with Artie. Maybe Artie got sick of Rick and that was the day offs, he might have stuck the knife in - Artie knows how radio works, and this is his 3rd major comeback and he has 2 mortgages, this has to work.

    Hit the bricks Rick

I would love it too. They'd be the new Lewis and Martin. Or maybe Wayne and Schuster.

The one thing you could tell about Artie throughout his Stern tenure, he definitely changed his attitude about his own self-worth. At first he was reticent to speak unless spoken to, then as he got more comfortable, he started doing more stand-up than he should have, started sleeping during the shows, blowing off shows, being high during shows, and flat-out told Booey that "hey, sorry if you're upset, but Howard calls the shots. As long as he's okay with me, I don't have to take your shit." The Artie-Gary fight was more interesting than the "Bro" argument.

I think Artie subconsciously was getting fed up with having to come up with the funny. The suits decided that Artie was the real talent and Nick didn't want to take it. Maybe he got fed up with Artie being "sick" and decided out of spite to take a sick day himself, and oops--the show was fine without him, and blew when he had to host it without Artie. There was definitely a way to check out how many people downloaded the podcast for either day, and based on the numbers, they probably thought "Hey, let's keep the Artie numbers and try to increase them by replacing Nick." Business-wise, it makes total sense.

Maybe we're all posting about nothing at all.
