"Unfortunately, Robin is not doing well. She sounds hoarse. She's crazier than ever. She's circling the bowl and God has His Hand on the flush button."
cold shit

The steroids she was talking about are for breathing issues usually. Not muscle builders.
The above statement is being made of my own free will. This site neither condones nor agrees to anything I post but for my right to post what I feel.

Photography's a joke. Anyone can be a photographer. You do your scary great pictures because you're a professional. I'll take my stupid...automatic camera...take pictures and we'll see if people can tell the difference. - HS, 2-1-02

50% of posters don't feel bad
30% of posters don't give a shit
The above is strictly my humble opinion.
I agree. A friend of mine took steroids in conjuction with treatment for his leukemia and got very puffy. Like Jerry Lewis. She was already fat, she must look like Precious now. How stupid to keep something like this under wraps.
And the word "courageous" is generally reserved for those with terminal cancer.
Thanks, Lou - I was reading this thread up to your point, thinkin' WTF? Some menopausal women take HRT, hormone replacement therapy, to keep the lack of estrogen that menopause brings, from weakening their bones (osteoporosis) or causing all the crazy side effects that people associate with menopause (dry skin, dry vajay, hot flashes...)...BUT, HRT was linked to an increase in female cancers back in the 70's - cervical, uterine.. - so it was really stopped being prescribed for a while. Now, women without a history of female cancers are being put on HRT again, but at really low doses, in a patch form (transdermic)...and for a pretty short amount of time.
Prednisone is a glucocorticoid - which is used to lessen inflammation and swelling - lots of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis use it to shrink inflammation in their joints, and asthmatics use it in their inhalers, to shrink inflammed bronchioles so they can breathe.... Also, patients who have lupus take prednisone, as do some people with fibromyalgia.
I don't know just what Robin would be taking prednisone for - It's a really great anti-inflammatory, but it comes with a TON of side effects - and potential long term effects. It can increase a normal, non-diabetic person's blood sugar, it's been shown to increase the size of the heart, if used for a long time....and it can cause pretty wild mood swings and irritability.
I do wish we could find out what is exactly wrong with her - I know it's her private business, but like someone mentioned above, her NOT telling makes the general listening public think it's pretty bad.... what if it isn't??![]()
