it really was more scary for the people around me. They really thought this shit was happening. I haven't had one in years, they started after my grandmother died and I went away to camp, and then really got bad after my brother's murder, when I was 19.

Really? I used to have them occasionally. First one happened when I was in bed with my ex, his mom thought he was trying to kill me and ran in to help. :WTF:

Took like ten minutes to calm me down.

Don't have them anymore, prolly bc I don't sleep much

I feel lucky that I rarely have nightmares. The few that I've had were fucking horrendous.

    Plenty of sex dreams

I have heard of people getting a sort of sleep paralysis. They wake up but can not move. It is like the mind is awake but the body is still asleep. Are you able to move during these night terrors?

I guess by Mlaw's description, I don't have "Night Terrors", but I tend to have constant nightmares almost exclusively. Hence, I drink liquor almost every night to knock me out and inhibit the dreaming state, otherwise shit gets so bad it wakes me up, and leaves me emotionally devastated the next day, as though the nightmare really happened.

Sex dreams happen less frequently, but they suck because I always wake up just about the time it gets really good; I've only had one "complete" wet dream in 48 years....what a rip-off.

At one time I worked hard on developing lucid dreams, and it was very interesting. In some ways it sounds kinda like the night-terrors as described by Mlaw, but much more positive, since you can do cool stuff and also work through some major issues in very short order, but it takes a lot of discipline and patience......

My roommate in college would lucid dream. He could fly in his dreams -- or so he said. I beleive him. I tried it, but it takes some real zen consciousness to pull it off. Whenever I realize I am dreaming, I awake. Good for you being able to pull that off.

My little brother had night terrors, but I really don't think he was awake. He would get out of hisbed and go in the hall and face the wall or something and then just fucking let go with blood curldling screams. It was freaky. If you went over to him to comfort him he would become startled and more frightened and and he would scream louder. It was a little Blair Witch/Paranormal Activity type shit. I hated it. It just went away after a while.

Lots of sex dreams, have woken up completely sated, if you know what I mean.

Occasional nightmares, I do unfortunately remember them.

We've discussed this I think, but I have awaken in the middle of physical act of love: coitus, with my wife on several occasions including last night.

Yes, it's really a lot harder than one might think, and I only really pulled it off 2 or 3 times at most in maybe a year of earnestly applying myself. And you're right, 99% of the time, when I realized I was dreaming, I woke up, but I should try to do it again, because when it does work, it's fucking amazing, and I did get permanent relief from one of my myriad neurosis when I was successful...

Sleep paralysis is crazy, had that happen to me once. I had taken a long nap; eventually woke up, I was kind of out of it and I just couldn't move at all.
Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.
