    Chuck Hagel for SecDef

"If I ever get out, if I ever can influence anything, I will do all I can to prevent war," he would later tell his biographer, Charlyne Berens.

"Not that I'm a pacifist - I'm a hard-edged realist, I understand the world as it is - but war is a terrible thing. There's no glory, only suffering," he is quoted as saying in his 2006 biography, "Chuck Hagel: Moving Forward."

Hagel once said "the Jewish lobby (in the United States) intimidates a lot of people here" and does some "dumb things" that aren't "smart for Israel." He also said that "I'm not an Israeli senator. I'm a United States senator."

I'm proud to have a president that doesn't nominate shit heads like Rumsfeld

I definitely agree with him on how being gay is an inhibiting factor. We don't need gay people representing our lifestyle, our values, and our standards. Especially those that are more aggressively gay.

So, instead we choose lying, cheating, and stealing politicians?

Aren't you in another thread blasting all politicians?

Now, you are trying to use the morality card?

    I approve of this.

It was embarrassing seeing that Lindsay Graham slobbering on this supposedly non-existent, imaginary jewish lobby.

The entire right wing mentality is a troll. Now to criticize Hagel they are touting the Iraq troop surge. Last I checked the only thing that war achieved was to make a vassel state for Iran...and right wingers would've told you that up until yesterday.

please don't make the mistake of thinking that RINOs Lindsay Graham (the reason Clinton wasn't convicted) and McCain (would have been a democrat if they put him on the ticket) speak for republicans in general

and every party member is in name only, because the name means nothing.
if mcain is a liberal, wouldn't that make the majority of republicans are also liberals since they voted for him?

how could i speak for republicans, not being one of them? i think it's pretty easy to identify McCain and Graham as RINO's; they have a track record that speaks for itself.

McCain would have run on the democrat ticket if they had given it to them; but the repubicans let him run on their ticket, so he stayed in the "party". and lindsay graham? he is the last person i would ever want pushing anything i actually cared about. he's all hat, no cattle. talks a good game, but has absolutely no spine.

i see people as progressives and conservatives, with progressives being the people who think government is a good vehicle by which to make social change, and to take care of all of the needs of its citizens, while conservatives are people who think the founding fathers' legacy is the best possible way to maintain life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

if i had to SWAG numbers, i'd say that 5% of the democrats are conservatives, and about 30% of the republicans are conservatives. that leaves us in a country of progressives, abandoning our roots, losing our footing, and going down the road every other country before us has gone down: stagnation and ruination.

Which is why most of the country looks at you as mentally incompetent.....because you see Progressives as such and Conservatives as such.....when little to nothing factual backs you up.

yeah, except reality, which you seem to be estranged from. some people in the country respect the founding fathers and what they did. some people think they are better than the founding fathers and can "fundamentally transform" america.

well, they can. just not into something better. it's playing out right in front of your eyes, yet you are blinded by ideology.

Hagel was saying the same sort of thing around the same time while a senator. "I think it would be unwise and dangerous if the United States would move unilaterally against Iraq," he said. "My fundamental question is, ‘What happens next? So if you take Saddam Hussein out, who governs? Do you let Iraq be fractured into many components?’ "

yeah, that's why some people don't want him in as the SecDef; he's an isolationist, and pretty clearly anti-israel. then again, so is obama and the democratic party, so i guess he'd fit right in.

Yea, what a terrible thing, to be against a pointless bloody war, real bad pick. Also, define anti-Israel.

    He is a lost cause.

Anyone who doesn't support Israeli 100% is wrong. Anyone who thinks it isn't a good idea to send ALL of our troops (except him and his family I am sure) is wrong.

Basically, he wants us to save his heeb family and friends from a war they have as much to do with as the other side.

The United States of America was the most important country in the world from July 4, 1776 to May 13, 1948.
