    20% for a wait person who is doing his job, including both taking the order and serving the food

    10-15% for bad service that may or may not be in the wait staff control

    5% when a message needs to be sent

    The wage system behind it sucks. Pay a person what he is worth and add that into the price of meal. That would obviously raise the menu price of going out to eat but people, other than "those who eat shrimp at Red Lobster", already have it figured into the cost of going out to eat. I bet that would result in much better service in the end and the job being a long term and stable form of employment.

    The least I ever tip is 25% quite often I tip 70 - 90% if the meal isn't crazy expensive. I make my living off tips so I believe its good karma and good luck to tip high.
