Right-Wingers Plot to Oust Boehner As House Speaker

At the right-wing Brietbart.com, Matthew Boyle writes of a plan by conservatives to wrest the speaker's gavel from Boehner by changing the rules of the vote to a secret ballot, under the reasoning that, if Boehner was unable to determine who voted against him, he would be unable to visit retribution on those members should his speakership survive the vote.

Although Boyle relies entirely on unnamed sources, he obtained a document laying out the plan, which is currently being circulated among right-wing members of the House. The irony is that they plan to use Boehner's promotion of an anti-union position favored by the Tea Party as the rationale for making the rules change.

I think the broader and mostly correct point of this article is that the Tea party types that came in 2010 just weren't as smart or organized as politicians of yesteryear. In 1994 when the republicans swept congress it was with smart people who understood how government worked--they could apply their ideology from that point. Many of the new republican faces from 2010 past have a lack of understanding of how govt. works and approach all votes and interactions as a way to support their ideology or reject different ideology.

The tea party is actually the worst thing to happen to the republican party in a long time. Republicans could have won congress in 2010 without the tea party, and people like Harry Reid would be out of a job if he faced a normal intelligent republican. The tea party seems great at face value to conservatives, but it has cost them at least 5 easy senate seats(and therefore control) in the past 4 years. I'm not trying to say there are no dumb democrats in congress because there are, however lack of education is not coveted as a trait that makes one more desirable for public office in the democratic party.

we don't promote intelligent candidates for public office anymore.

potential candidates know that we approve of and demand our media's muckraking and dragging every member of their family, no matter how old or infirm, and every one of their friends and associates (real or assumed) onto the tabloids (because all news media in the US now practices tabloid journalism) for vivisection. no intelligent and qualified person willingly subjects his family and friends to that kind of abuse.

if you cook a pot of stew and you then remove the stew from the pot, all that is left is the scum which is usually washed down the drain. today we promote it as political candidates. no one should be surprised that we have garbage in office now.
ok, who writes "goo goo at a at a, fukin jew heeb"?
"fuckyoubigot i dont like you're sig" "repeated annoying comments"

I mostly agree with this, but the tea party has taken this whole premise up a notch. An education from Harvard or Yale or [insert prestigious institution] used to be a plus no matter what your ideology was. Now it is as if the Tea party looks down on this.

the problem with the Tea Party is that the original premise of smaller, more limited government and increased personal freedom was hijacked by the right wing social lunatics - pro lifers, anti-gay marriage assholes in particular

that turned me off along with most other fiscally conservative but socially moderate people

it sucks that the "tea party"(there's no such thing as a tea party) are the supposed conservatives now.
if they were serious, they could have got spending cuts. but they were more interesting in blindly opposing a dem pres. no matter what.
but that's what the voters in their districts want, so it's best for them, just not best for the country.

they love keeping beohner as the scapegoat. they don't want the job because then they would be seen as agreeing with the bam and that's the last thing they want. even if bam shifted 98% towards their position.
watch bam this summer try to pass the bush-mccain immigration bill, i bet even mccain votes against it.

The original "tea party" was a small group of libertarians protesting Bush's govt spending and expansion. Right wing media such as fox news and talk radio (and then left wing media such as MSNBC by way of constant coverage) turned it into the social conservative group it is today. Problem with that is that it can only win smaller elections as a general rule. Now the right is stuck with this group of no-compromise, social lunatics in the house that feel entitled to dictate the entire republican platform.
