Elias, I am curious to hear what you thought of The Hobbitt. I was pretty disappointed and fucking hated the 48fps 3D. I will have to see it again in 2D though.

Skeptical photoshoppers, please do a You-Tube search and see for yourselves.
i wonder about the reality of osama's death....weren't most of the seals responsible for his capture and death also killed in a helicoptor crash a few weeks or months later? there is no body....he was allegedly dumped into the sea after a muslim prayer with no pictures released. WHY?????????? i'm not conspiracy minded but this doesn't pass the smell test....release the photo. the whole thing was so anti-climatic. the american people didn't get their catharsis.

As someone else in this thread alluded to earlier--if a professional behaved in that manner they wouldn't be rewarded with more assets, they'd most likely be given a mental eval and sent home. A good 70% of ZD30's plot centers around Maya's "lone woman" crusade to follow her lead...that whole story arc seems completely crafted with a Hollywood story arc...just not buying any of that. When I reflect on ZD30, the only parts that I feel are probably the most accurate deal with the actual raid...but all the CIA intrigue seems really scripted and concocted like a lot of TV shows.

As to Argo, I'd say that although it does have some fictional elements, it sticks much closer to historical facts than ZD30. Plus, the "facts" of the Argo story are much more bizarre and unbelievable to begin with....Hollywood agents, SFX guys, fake Sci-Fi movie scripts to con the Iranians, hiding in the Canadian Ambassador's home for months on end. And we know that the character Ben Afleck plays is a real guy (Tony Mendez), who was given some pretty high awards for pulling off the crazy stunt.

But hey, if you think ZD30 is a better film, that's cool. I liked it too...I just don't think it's deserving of any big awards. Having a personal interest in Middle Eastern relations, I'm just saying that I think Argo was the more compelling film of the two.
Just because some random Stern message board guy says lone woman Maya is bullshit doesn't mean anything to me, prove there wasn't a woman involved then I will call the movie Hollywood garbage. Most people said the Hurt Locker was carefully done and accurate by Bigelow, why would I believe she dropped her standards for a far more important story like this?

Also regarding the CIA agent Maya's conduct in the film, it's believable to me. Why would it be unbelievable that someone would be passionate about stopping mass murder ? Watch the Frontline episode about the FBI's lead expert on Al Qaeda John O'Neil, he was also extremely passionate. It's called The Man Who Knew. It could be the best Frontline EVER, watch it here http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...ows/knew/view/

Argo is not historically accurate. Go read the opinions of those who were there. It has been manufactured to sell in the USA (but not at the same level as that true abomination, U-571).

As for zero dark thirty, it is just more propaganda. I am not sure I would go to the extent Naomi Wolf did though:

Saw "This is 40" the other day. Which is, btw, far better than most claimed. This makes sense, as it wasn't broad enough for them, ala Adam Sandler flicks.

Anyway, trailers included a hopped up version of "Hansel and Gretel", with them as witch killers. Violence plus action plus sex plus occult = box office.

Another trialer, for a movie called something like "Identity theft" , included not one but TWO punches to the throat by the fat chick in the movie as comedy. The morons in the audience guffawed out loud at those while sitting quietly and not getting half the jokes in "This is 40". More like "This is 40 years of a welfare and debt system that encourages the stupid to multiply"

What a future this should turn out to be. Expect actual gladiatorial combat to be back within a decade.

Wow you sound like you're 100 years old. Slapstick comedy is the downfall of society ? Yeah, parents in the 30s said the same thing about The Three Stooges. No different than the parents in the 50s hating Elvis.

I just saw this too. She is the best actress on the planet since Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep before her. I don't know what some of you guys are talking about. This film was fucking incredible. From first frame to last one. Kathryn Bigelow has balls of steel to be able to take this subject matter on to begin with and come thru making a wonderful film. I didn't see a false note in the whole picture. So many great actors sprinkled throughout this thing. One after the other. A great performance from Jason Clarke as the CIA operative.

I say it's the best film of the year.

..and that brings up an entire array of related(..unasked/unanswered) questions regarding the entire "raid" mission/scenario...such as...why
was JSOC even involved/brought in at all?...besides maybe providing some additional planning and logistics etc.
...but whatever..such is the way of the shadowlands.

"I saw ZD30 and I have a friend in the gubberment and let me tell you. A lot of that stuff couldn't really have happened, no way, no way Jose. Its all Hollywood, i mean they didn't have the real video of what really happened and besides Obama's burf sertifixate"

Some of the brain surgery in this thread is just mind blowing. Truly.

Some of it definitely could have happened and was portrayed very accurately. I spent a lot of time in Afghanistan and was very familiar with the detention facilities there. The scenes which took place on Bagram, in particular, look very much like the actual buildings and compounds. The torture room (at the beginning of the film) is also pretty realistic, although the room is larger than the one I had the displeasure to enter. The locales were extremely well done; I didn't watch the credits to see where the movie was filmed--but having lived in that part of the world, it sure seemed realistic. The *only* thing I noticed that seemed wrong as far as locales go, is at the very end of the movie when Maya gets on the Helicopter to leave (I assume) Afghanistan. They have some shots looking down the runway, and it appears to be a rolling desert with minimal hills. I immediately thought it looked like an area near Bakersfield, CA and not Afghanistan where it is difficult to escape a view of the mountains.

The interrogation scenes as well as the military strike were also convincing. The most unconvincing part of the story--to me--was the melodrama surrounding Maya. Screaming, pouting, acting out, and insubordination are generally not tolerated in government service--especially those organizations that have a hierarchical chain of command.
    Shut your fucking mouth, cocksucker!

Don't forget that Obama had Osama killed on may 1 st. May day being a very communist holiday
The above is strictly my humble opinion.
