People that are into technology don't buy either. They build PC's and get their OS for free.
You could build a fucking ridiculous PC for less than half the price of a MBP.
But I suppose the downside is you wouldn't get to flaunt it around the local Starbucks and use it to pick up hot dudes.
Most people that buy Apple products are buying them for vanity, not functionality. Hence Tim Sabean having 3 Ipad minis on day 1.
Wow look at all the butthurt mac fanboys giving out shitpiles.![]()
I googled an answer for ya:
keep in mind that a PC laptop, while SOMEWHAT equivalent to a MacBook Pro, and more versatile, will still suffer from the problems that a PC has, namely, compatibility issues. Macs are made by the same people who make the Operating System (OS X): Apple.
Microsoft, who makes Windows, does NOT make computers, just the OS (Windows), so they aren't always universally compatible with all PCs, causing issues which end up needing patched (if patchable).
that's not to say that ALL PCs have problems, just that their potential for poor quality is increased.
that being said, the equivalent laptop to the LATEST MacBook Pro would be one with:
CPU: Intel Core i7 2.4Ghz or better
HDD: 500GB or larger
RAM: 4GB DDR3
Dedicated video card
Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate
77.5 Wh Battery
backlit keyboard
integrated webcam
and a 1 year warranty
it is impossible to list the laptops available that have all of this, because, unlike Apple laptops, which are finite in count and model, PC laptops are nearly infinite in count, with new ones made everyday by various manufacturers

Wait a minute! Is apple located In the trip-state area? Howard said New York and the tri state area plays the majority of all taxes in America!!!
If Apple wanted to help America, they'd manufacture their products in the US...
"I pull out. I never use condoms, I'm a married man." Howard Stern 1996

the amount paid isn't the key point, its the %. they shouldn't get a special break. i don't blame apple though, i blame the politicians who accept their lobby money for favor.
taxes are way too high, and if these large corps had to pay their share, everyone else could pay much less, and that would greatly boost the economy.
but it's silly to choose a product based on what tax they pay.
i don't buy apple, but i'm not yuppie cool
