W does not look good on your transcript. It is overlooked if your other grades are stellar. But having several W's shows that you have other issues going on. I would pass on you.

seriously though, who reviews college transcripts anyway? They want your GPA is all. In my life I do not recall ever having been asked to produce mine and I have a professional degree.

my recollection was that there was some service that compiled your test scores and your grades and shit and then transmitted them to the school in some standard format. Maybe I am mistaken.

there is for some disciplines. but for others, we see everything. all test scores and transcripts. too many "W's" are red flags.

Is this other class that you want to take really important for you? Seems a waste to drop a class that you have already invested a lot of time into and have a good grade in. Also I am assuming the year long class gives you the credits for two courses once completed. So you would be losing out on some credits that you have already earned.

I think I would get to keep the first semester A. And the class is very boring and not needed at all. There are very few of classes from my major that fit in my schedule and this class is blocking them.

To withdraw from this course at this point would result in a W (withdraw) on my transcript, though I received an A in the first semester.
Do you think it is a big deal to get a W?

Well if you're gonna apply to Yale Law School, you better think again
Also, you'll need a letter of rec from a U.S. Senator.

If it hasn't started yet you wont get a W. Just drop it.
