i'm not convinced they dropped it because it's al-jazeera. i think they dropped it because it's not al gore's network anymore.

TW is only interested in their bottom line; quality has never mattered as much as sales. when i worked for them it was known as schlock. this is the company that produced such literary masterpieces as Vanna Speaks (when i went to the B&N in the lobby to get her to autograph my copy that i got for free as an employee, i asked her a question about something in the book and she didn't recall the incident "she wrote about").

i figure TW feels that their primary viewing audience was tuning in to hear news a la al gore. they wanted al on their TVs and had they known he was looking to sell to anyone with money they would have made an offer to keep him on their programming.

also the industry is very small, and they operate like a small clique; they are probably feeling jilted. a sr vp used to fire his staff if they came in wearing the same perfume (not cologne) that he chose to wear that day. he kept a gift of Channel No 5 on his office wall unit. it was a display (> 1 gallon) from Saks that a vendor had filled with real perfume (and not colored water) as a gift..... the job i got was made available because my predecessor came in the week before with unshined shoes.... they are very, very petty.
