Coyotes attack man: 3 wild animals ambush man in backyard

Beth: Poor Coyotes, I hope they didn't get hurt attacking the man.

Coyotes attacked a man in his backyard as he was spending time outdoors with his dog. Three of the animals unexpectedly bit and scratched Faron Scarberry outside his home in Kent. He related the details of his ordeal, according to a Dec. 31, 2012 report by The Oregonian. He said, "They come up toward my face, and I kind of blocked them and pushed them away, and that's when the one grabbed me by the leg."

As a result of the coyotes' attack, Scarberry spent a good portion of that evening in the emergency room being treated for scratches and one bite. In addition, he had to endure 26 painful rabies injections, two shots in his hip and 24 injections in his leg. Rabies is a virus that is often fatal. Coyotes are one of the most common animals that carry the virus. Aggressive behavior is one of the signs that a coyote may be infected with rabies. Surviving the virus requires immediate treatment, and it is customary for victims of coyote attacks to receive rabies shots even if the coyotes are not captured and confirmed to carry the virus.

Why can't Beth take in a Coyote?

Howard is Coyote Ugly. Beth would chew off her arm to get away if she woke up next to him.

At least it wasn't in New Mexico. You can't win against the werewolves in New Mexico. With coyotes at least you have a chance.

Every now and then we hear an awful racket from the woods accross the street. It's Coyotes going after newborn calves in the fenced area there. Sometimes they win the owner tells me.

This happened pretty close to where I grew up. The yote was pretty timid but I would not have left the dog outside.

The coyotes were probably going after the dog. But since the guy was in the way they were probably trying to hold him back while the dog was taken. Coyotes are f'n smart.

I hear them howling at night quite often but rarely see them. Saw one going through my neighbor's garbage one day - he looked pretty scrawny and ran when he saw me. A few years ago a pack of them tore apart a little fawn in the field across from my house. I never let my small dog stay out in the yard alone, especially at night.

We've got them bad..There are no cats around and a few years ago some idiot let loose a bunch of bunnies. Hair teeth and eyeballs everywhere. I was attacked in our central park last year while walking 2 huge dobermann's . I couldn't believe it..The first one stalked us from behind and then another one ran in front of us and tried to hamstring one of my dogs. That coyote got tore up and it was all I could do to stop my dogs..And still the other one followed us out of the park until I got to a street. They are just now implementing a program to remove them..About 5 years too late.

Dozens of them around my place. I see them all the time. They use our yard as a path from the woods behind the house to the river in front of the house. I've had a couple of "incidents" with them. I've actually stopped walking in the morning because of them.
