Sea Shepherd's 'Sam Simon' Ship Adds To Anti-Whaling Group's Fleet

Anti-whaling activists unveiled on Tuesday their latest weapon against Japanese whalers in the frigid Southern Ocean, a $2 million ship funded by the producer of The Simpsons television series and purchased in secret from the Japanese government.

The 56-metre (184 ft) 'Sam Simon', which docked in the southern Australian port of Hobart, brings the hardline anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's fleet to four, just one vessel smaller that Japan's whaling fleet.

It should be called the "S.S. I have all of Harry Shearer's money". I love Harry Shearer if only for the fact that if you get him talking about Sam Simon, he will just badmouth him until he's told to stop. I heard him go off on him once on Jay Thomas, and it was great. A caller asked him about the shows sucking for so long now, and he basically said "Well, if Sam Simon didn't have all of our money, maybe I could afford to walk away in protest."

I've had a few up close encounters with those dipshits. They are freaks of incredible proportions. They lie, and spread more untruths to gather up money than people would believe. As a mariner, watching that show and seeing these naive young people being led into danger and thinking they are untouchable is so scary. They have no idea of the risks they are actually taking. You can tell they don't realize it even though they say they are willing to risk their lives to save the whales. They will end up killing or seriously hurting someone eventually.

Nope. Wouldn't try it after seeing the shark fining videos. Unless the entire shark was used as a food source or the shark was caught as legal bycatch in a legitimate fishery, there should be no such thing.
