We usually had a big fish/shrimp fry, with a crab boil with taters and corn on the cob in the boil.
I don't see how it could hurt... we're going to need all the luck we can get in 2013.

Heinous & Boring Annual Trivia: Black Eyed Peas are a Southern tradition dating from the Civil War era. In November and December 1864, Willie T. Sherman did his "March To The Sea", and among other things, he wanted to destroy anything the Union couldn't steal, including food. The legend is that the Northerners thought that black-eyed-peas were just grain for horse food, so they didn't steal or destroy it, and that's what many families survived on in the winter of 1864/1865.
