America 2012: Kid spends Christmas in juvie over doodles

Student draws picture of a glove with flames coming out of it
Teacher sees it and freaks out, notifies administration who calls police
Police come and take kid out of school and search his home
Find chemicals and electronics IF mixed together COULD make an explosive device
Kid gets arrested for making a bomb and spends a week (including Christmas) in juvenile detention center.
Police send bomb sniffing dogs to check out school
    Nothing found
Police say the chemicals were standard household items that were NOT mixed in anyway to make a weapon
Police and school say student made no threats and no one was in danger
Police and school say they did the right thing and better to be safe than sorry.

Not a big fan of litigation, but this family should sue the fuck out of every possible target here just to make others think twice about taking such asinine actions.

He's lucky he didn't doodle a gun, he would have gone to jail for life.

Jesus christ all me and my friends ever doodled back in grade school were war images. We had Vietnam on the TV news every night. Planes being shot down, planes dropping bombs. WTF, we all would have been doing hard time in 1969
