i saw that; i think that will be discredited: during the times before and through the first temple anything that was banned was utterly destroyed. it was standard practice to leave nothing that might be used for another purpose later. the congregation and priests would have been hacked to bits, the temple things and structure would have been shredded and burned to ash. the practice is referred to as the ban in the bible. it's what was done to the original inhabitants of Canaan. there really would be nothing to indicate that there once was a temple there if it was a banned structure.

Romans did this with all the pagan temples when Christianity came around the empire. It was easier to wipe away any trace of the religion and build new temples or churches. Now, because Rome was so overpopulated and land sparse, they would bulldoze over temples and just build on top.

the researchers have fucked up all the time estimates over the past 40 years. the Egyptian Antiquities dept swears their civilization started around 3000 BC except the sphinx (now) obviously is a lot older. they insist that the Pharaoh during the jews exodus was not the one in the bible, until some new guys suggest the then current timeline is missing a few interim pharaohs and suddenly the pharaoh in the bible matches the one in their records. its only a matter of time before we announce that we're certain civilization dates back more than 15000 years which would put it before or during the last ice age... the timelines are all a joke.

I thought Django was excellent, but I am a big Western movie fan. If you like Westerns you'll love this one; however you don't have to be a fan of Westerns to enjoy it. I disagree about Foxx -- I thought he was good. He didn't really have to stretch or anything though because that character was outstanding already. Waltz and DiCaprio were fantastic as well. Better win best screenplay at least.

I expected a fantastic performance from Waltz and he did not disappoint; he is dramatic comedy gold on the screen. I expected a performance from him that was as powerful as he delivered in Inglorious Basterds and he did it. I have never been a big fan of DiCaprio but he just knocked it out of the park in every scene. Foxx just seemed to fade away when he was in scenes with either of the others.

every so often someone trots out carbon 14 dating as proof that it all happened 3000 years ago, except that the area is so volcanically active that pitch bubbles up and floats on top of the dead sea even now. all the carbon that kind of environment pumps into the environment would throw off carbon 14 dating and make things seem younger than they really are. every research group promotes their own ideas and almost none of them agree. i figure that means they just don't know.
