    Chinks have high speed train

It would virtually eliminate awful airline travel and driving between many cities, yet we worry about gun control and other bullshit because of the gas lobbyists and liberal cunts. Obama made jobs to improve infrastructure (highways) yet didn't focus on innovation like this. We suck.

More expensive, keeps our dependency on foreign oil going, more pollution, and less convenient. For domestic travel, makes a ton of sense.

I can get from Amsterdam to Paris in under 3 hours taking the bullet train and a round ticket only costs 25 bucks if I book well ahead. It's really nice and comfortable. You can get a meal and even sit at a bar in there if you want to.

Isn't the AmTrak any good? It seems to hit all the major cities. If they'd modernize that network and put fast trains on there, it could be great. I was impressed by the subway system in New York City. I mean, you guys CAN pull off public transport really well if you want it badly enough.
My name was supposed to be French fries with mayo but I was drunk when I signed up.

You can also just call me "Dick".

Republican governors turned down money that was set aside for high speeed rail. Illinois is getting a train manufacturer that was all set to open shop in Wisconsin because Gov. Wanker turned down funding.

I thought the Chinks had that for a decade or more already?

At any rate, I think they would be great for a number of reason, but 2 problems that immediately come to mind are the potential for terrorism, and the certainty of the objections of Big Oil Lobbyists......

Those are two of some of the most ridiculous reasons not to pursue innovation, and I'm sad about the fact that you're probably a 100% right.

The biggest issue is that most train tracks have been removed or they built roads over them. We see trains as a bad thing, everyone must have a car! I visited Belgium, I was 1 hour from Paris, 1 hour from Amsterdam and 1 hour from London. Good luck finding that kind of thing in North America.

They have been talking about a Montreal - New York line for years, no clue when it will happen. Same for a Windsor - Quebec high speed line... they keep talking and talking and talking.

its a great accomplishment. there is just one problem i see: after traveling at high speeds, you are still in China. what good is moving at 300mph if all you can do is get from one end of a pile of shit to the other end?
