Eh, the hero worship of military leaders is a bit over-wrought in my opinion, but gotta say, Norman had one thing right: We should finished the fucking job in Iraq since we were already there and had the world's support at that time.
It would have saved us the stupidity of W going after Iraq on a ruse.
Norman also wrote a decent auto-bio I read as a kid called "It doesn't take a hero" or some such. It's interesting but also kind of comical in parts like where he tries to identify with the counter-culture by saying how he listened to Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." It was a bit forced. Norman also makes sure to tell the dear readers that he saved a Negro in Vietnam from getting killed.
He had an interesting life, for sure. He traveled with his military paps to get away from his alcoholic mother.
Oh, another part of his book that's interesting is his treatment of Colin Powell. I can't cite it specifically because I read it so long ago, but you can tell Norman was not a fan of Powell.

He was a 4 Star General. I thought he was a 5 Star General for some reason . . .

I didn't neg you, but you did fail to mention that 1) The heliocopter use was not intended to allow them to use gunships, 2) he admitted he got fooled, and 3) Norman's bosses had to ok that agreement and made the decision not to resume the war after Saddam violated the spirt of the agreement.

There are two types of generals. Fighting generals, and political generals. The combat generals rarely rise as high as the staff/REMF political ones in modern times. No US general has had to be very good since WWII as our material and technological superiority has been so great it glosses over their mistakes.

right, the great generals goal was to crush them and render saddam powerless to bother anyone. which he accomplished.
the second goal was to liberate people. liberals need to stop using our military to help people, especially when we need them to crush enemies.
i don't understand why jr didn't learn from sr how it's done
