N&A Listening 2012: A Reflection

First of all, Nick and Artie are over worked and under-paid.

Less Dan Falato is not good, more on-air Dan please.

Pretty awesome that Dawg is where my favorite callers RfB, ARM, (and to a greatly lesser degree @timinqueue) are viewing/posting.

I am OK with amount of Twinsanity lately. I think they translate better on T.V. too.

Mike B: home run each and every time.

Colin Quinn is my favorite comedian on the show (though the only sports he seems to know about are football players from the 1960s, and he does not talk much, but there is something there with Colin in the studio).

Robert Wuhl is my favorite substitute host. I just watched his movie "Mistress" from 1992. It was really good. The guy is a talent.

Is Artie doing drugs? I really do not think it is any body's business. It is great that listeners care so much about the dude and amazing how entitled we all feel (that he does the show 5 nights a week). But I am leaving that up to Artie and his family. I just enjoy the entertainment. I hope he does the show another 20 years.

Nick is a top radio and comedy talent. Perfect guy to play off Artie. His quick wit and busting-ass make him irreplaceable.

Any one else have things they like about the Nick and Artie show?

well I'm not going to say they're over worked or under paid. they work 5 days a week, 3hr show. that's a 15hr work week at a kick ass job. plus TMZ reported they signed a $3M deal, making more than 500k each, each year. That's pretty damn good scratch.

Brian Jones might be my favorite regular guest they have. always comes with energy and the guys seem to really enjoy him when he's there. plus he's still the only guest that sat in on the entire 3hrs just to hang with the guys.

Love Hanzi! I lol'd at the parody song they made. His crazy theories actually make some sense. They need to have him in studio.

Gonzo in near and dear to my heart. One of the first OG callers I remember along with Tod from Bay side.

Mike B is the best, never fails to entertain. Also agree that we need more Dan. my favorite part of the original show was the Dan stories from the weekend and anytime they bust his balls. It's like the best part of the stern show is when Stern rags on bababoey. Similar dynamic here. Both producers but I think Dan takes it better than bababooey.

Twins, only good when the guys are busting their ovaries or doing bits that make them look retarded.

Nick is a good host and has classic one liners every night. He can get a bit annoying pushing his political views all the time but Artie balances it out.

My favorite part of the show, hands down, is whenever these two get into a fight. It's radio gold. it'll start off with Boston/NY ribbing and it turns into a who got more sensitive fight lol. The fight during Bonnie Bernstein was classic.

They should get more breaks, the show starts to lumber when they go 2 months straight (or more) without a day or week off.

Rick is tolerable when he takes off the schoolmaster's hat and has fun with a riff - his retarded stories from deadspin and other places need to go, teasing something that happened days ago and isn't that interesting anyway is radio infanticide. Rick needs to calm the fuck down with being the host, there is no reason to captain the show, it needs no steering, let Artie get going on something and then take a break, repeat 75 more times a show and then go home.

Much more Dan, a little more Fruity Shane, the minimal amount of twatsanity lately has been perfect, they've also seemed to make a concerted effort not to be cunts (well marie that is, Liz has always been a good sport)

Bryan jones needs to only be in studio, if he can't come in, he shouldn't be on, when's he in he physically intimidates Rick and eventually will bait him into saying nigger - only a list comics, old athletes that are willing to have fun and John Avello should be on phone. I hope they do prop bets with John Avello again.

The music is god awful, it needs to cease. Need more comedians in, less sports writers

They need to talk more about current events - artie actually knows what is happening in the world, has no idea how sports work since 1978.

I loved the Nils Lofgren show, but could do without all the other bands. Nick and Artie need to be off the chains and break balls on an UNCENSORED SHOW! Don't they realize how big an audience they could get with that??

but they have like 7 affiliate's including miami and the rest sub 100 markets - I mean c'mon that is like literally 10 thousand listeners.

Uhhhh, I think Howig tried that and we know how that worked out.

I think they're better off this way with more listeners and more money.
