A petition calling for the immediate deportation of CNN host Piers Morgan has crossed the necessary threshold to garner a response from President Barack Obama.

More than 36,000 people have signed the online plea at the official White House petitions forum, spurred by Morgan’s call for stricter gun-control laws in the wake of the Dec. 14 slaughter at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. (Read MarketWatch First Take: Wall Street faces Newtown tragedy.)

The text of the petition notes that Morgan is a British citizen and charges that he is “engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment.”

Further, it demands that Morgan “be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

In order to get an official response, a petition posted on the White House site must attract 25,000 signatures within 30 days. This one passed that mark in less than three.

Other open petitions that have more than enough signatures for presidential responses include one calling for the construction of a “Star Wars”–style “Death Star” and another advocating federal legalization of marijuana.

Sorry, but that's not true at all. Thomas Jefferson himself said that the Constitution needs to be ripped up every generation. You're allowed to object to The Constitution.
