    When I lived around a bunch of them, I always went to Discount Tires chain stores. For like $5 each tire, you get free repair/patch of any holes, and if there's a sidewall hole or belts seperating, etc., they replace the tire for free. Also free rotation once a year. Way more than paid for its'self many times..... Maybe you got something like that and didn't remember it.

    That's what it was, discount tire. The only thing I can figure is I scared him when I told him I was going to bring it to my friend to put a new one on. He must of been bullshitting when he said there was a hole on the sidewall
