i thought howard's review was right on. the first half was boring and the second half was entertaining. but i would have rather watched a biopic of lincoln's whole life.

i probably won't see it until it's on cable. it's supposed to be very long and tedious and i'm not sure i can handle sally fields......(she's one of those actresses who really annoy me).

there were rumors that spielberg was considering barbara walters for that role....

Stern loved that Ashton Kutcher bomb and thinks AGT is a good show.

Those are just a few of the many examples of why one shouldn't take Stern's tastes in entertainment seriously

Flunkie, Did you read "Team of Rivals"? If not you should......You would appreciate it......And Mary Todd has been libeled....Was she "Odd" In her old age, Yes...But what she endured would have made anyone a little off.............

Honestly, you're asking someone on this board if they a book of that caliber?? Haven't seen the movie yet but plan to over the holidays. I've read the Speilberg paid a tremendous amount of detail to all aspects of the film but Howie naturally, could not appreciate any of that...it didn't have a Comic book super hero in it. I did read the biography on Mary Todd Lincoln and came away with the thought that she probably suffered from bipolar melancholia.

It deserves all the accolades. If Daniel Day Lewis doesn't win an Oscar than it's a joke. It might not win best picture or Director, though because of Argo, which was really good also.

You liked it? I'll watch it, but it does look boring. BUT, DDL and Sally Field are fantastic actors and I look forward to seeing their performances.

Movies are all subjective. I agree it was boring even though it had excellent acting. If politics is your thing then you'll get a lesson of the great leadership we used to have in this country before lobbies took over. If you want action then check out The Raid Redemption.
