No surprise. Susan Rice drops out.

“If nominated, I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive and costly – to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities,” Rice wrote in a letter to President Obama, saying she’s saddened by the partisan politics surrounding her prospects.
“That trade-off is simply not worth it to our country...Therefore, I respectfully request that you no longer consider my candidacy at this time,” she wrote in the letter obtained by NBC News.

how 'bout we don't consider it later, either?

She really, really wanted to testify under oath, but unfortunately it would just be too costly, disruptive, and lengthy. Oh my.

whenever a politician or bureaucrat fucks up, it's always "partisan" politics to blame for derailing someone's shitty little gov't career

the good thing about a 2 party system is that each one keeps the other in check

Looks like Hillary is backing out of testifying as well. Nothing to see here, folks

The bad part is it keeps both sides from getting anything accomplished.

yup. it's always at the end, when nobody wants them anymore, that they resort to "i just want to spend more time with the wife and kids"

unlike susan rice, who was told in no uncertain terms, you're not going to get the nod; save yourself some embarrassment and just quit

so odd that if obamanation felt she was only being attacked for being a blaek woman, that obama would not go to bat for her; fight for her; etc.

just hide behind her skirt. like usual. Beta Male In Chief.

Rosa Parks was a civil rights hero for refusing to take a back seat on a bus; susan rice is nobody because obama threw her under the bus.

    that's some OC right there

Once I heard she held stock in the keystone pipeline I knew she was toast as a nominee.

Hillary bumped her head and immediately said she can't testify

Have you heard the conspiracy that's floating around that the reason Rice was targeted was because supposedly, repubs knew that Obama was considering Kerry as a front runner after Rice and if Kerry was nominated, he'd have to vacate his senate seat...which means the repubs had an opportunity to pick up an extra seat in the U.S. senate.

Interestingly enough, it used to be that the Massachusetts governor appointed the successor, but when Mitt Romney was governor, they changed that law to block him from being able to appoint a successor to Kennedy's seat.

    How thoughtful of Kerry.

“Secretary Clinton’s team contacted Senator Kerry this morning to inform them of the secretary’s concussion,” Jodi Seth said. “Senator Kerry was relieved to hear that the Secretary is on the mend, but he insisted that given her condition, she could not and should not appear on Thursday as previously planned, and that the nation’s best interests are served by the report and hearings proceeding as scheduled with senior officials appearing in her place.”

could one of you liberals please point out the "conspiracy" involved here?

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sustained a concussion last week after becoming extremely dehydrated and fainting while suffering from a stomach virus, the State Department said.

The 65-year-old Clinton is recovering at home and has been advised by her doctors to continue to rest and avoid strenuous activity and cancel all work events for the next week. She had been scheduled to testify before a pair of congressional panels looking into the Sept. 11 attack against a diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya.
