I hear you. It's also important to go out with the right people. Some of my friends have got me into some stupid fights when I'm just chillin'.

Well, there's the whole "not wanting to drink and drive" and once you hit your late 30s/early 40s, the notion of getting in your car and going somewhere after 11 pm is a little ridiculous.

I did it, up until about two years ago and it's exhausting, especially for gay people, who generally have to drive at least 20 to 30 miles to get to a gay club or bar.

If you go to a straight bar, it's just not the same thing.

Used to go out more whwn living in florida. My wifes parents are the type that you can dump the kids on any time.

My parents are a bit more uptight. I gotta make plans, see if theyre avalaible, etc

Going out when you are married isn't really so much fun for me. I don't enjoy just drinking and hanging out, it gets tedious after awhile. If I were single and trying to meet women, it would be more interesting, since it is competitive. But, realistically, trying to meet and pick up women once you are over a certain age is pretty creepy for all involved.
