What I don't understand is the nurse who killed herself was the one who just answered the phone and put the call through to some other nurse who blabbed everything:

"Host Mel Greig, doing a cheap imitation of the Queen’s voice, told Saldanha as she answered the 5:30 a.m. call Tuesday: 'Oh, hello there, could I speak to Kate, please, my granddaughter.'

The harried nurse never questioned Greig’s identity, and dutifully passed her call to a nurse near Middleton’s room where Kate was recovering from pregnancy complications.

'Oh yes, just hold on, ma’am,' the misfortunate medic told the radio shock jocks."

I heard a news story today that mentioned the woman was from India and that explains a lot. They have an intense devotion and sense of honor regarding their jobs and a failure like hers is a huge disgrace. There was a show on PBS about the Mumbai hotel terrorist attack that illustrated this. During the attack several employees had the chance to escape but they stayed behind because they felt a duty to protect their guests no matter what, even if it meant dying for them. Most of these people weren't even management or security personnel, they were low-level cooks, housekeepers, and bellmen and several of them did die.
