I totally agree. ROTJ was not a very good movie, although the scenes with Luke and Vader in which Vader explains why he can't escape the Dark Side are really great.

Lucas is not a brilliant creator either. Star Wars was just a big ol' pot full of things he liked from other filmmakers (namely Kurosawa). If Lucas should be remembered fondly for anything, it's that he assembled a crew of truly creative and brilliant people and knew when to get the fuck out of the way. To this day most people still think that he directed RotJ and ESB.

Stern is not a brilliant creator either. His show was just a big ol' pot full of things he liked from other DJs (namely Steve Dahl). If Stern should be remembered fondly for anything, it's that he assembled a crew of truly creative and brilliant people and knew when to get the fuck out of the way. To this day most people still think that he wrote the show's funniest bits.

I would agree that Lucas isn't a great director, but he has made some good movies. I still like this one.

I am thinking the Ewoks. They almost totally ruined TROTJ for me. But then I am thinking that making the robots increasingly kid friendly is pretty much what did it.
