    Anyone use a food mill?

I want to purchase one so that I can separate beans from the skins for my son and possibly use it for blackberries and raspberries to remove the seeds. I read you can also use to to remove the skin from baked or steamed apples to make applesauce or tomatoes or potatoes.

Has anyone used one? Do you need one with different plates on it? Is there one on Amazon you would recommend? Preferably under $25.

    Thanks for your help!

i've wondered if separating the skins of beans, etc. is a good thing. all the vitamins are in the skin of rice; when we strip it away to make white rice we remove all the nutrients, so I am concerned that doing the same for beans and legumes is a bad thing.

yeah I thought about that too but they are too thick sometimes like white or black beans. He only has one tooth so it would only be temporary. When I make him lentils, I grind up the whole think in the baby bullet and it's fine, other beans I have issues with.

maybe you can make the beans the consistency of squash? then you could leave the skins on as long as they are pureed into the mix.

Like cook them for 3 hours? I am still trying to get the hang of cooking beans correctly. Some seem fine and some seem slightly undercooked. I always seem to overlook lentils. Yeah, I need help.

Food mill!! I have a really old one exactly like this one, it's the best way to make mashed potatoes.

If I had to replace it, I think I'd get an OXO one... all of their gadgets I've ever bought are very good, reasonably priced, they hold up well.
