Howard can retire today if he wanted. No one is forced to work, even with a contract. Howard can of course not work in radio anymore as long as his contract is still valid.

But: Maybe year 4-5 are optional for Howard/Sirius. When I read Howard's old contracts he usually have an out clause for year four and five. I guess that Howard is doing his old "I am retiring" rant to negotiate a new deal. Howard's goal is an Oprah Winfrey deal. A couple of hours per month and 50 million.

You are 100% right. He didn't give a shit about the show until a few months ago. There is no way that AGT will renew his contract.

if they didn't ask him to return why would he risk embarrassment by bringing it up everyday? wouldn't he just let it fade away?
