She doesn't "let me buy" anything....we have separate shenanigans funds. She has rolled her eyes at countless car, guitar and tool purchases over the years. We just get along great and don't sweat the small stuff. People that say being married takes lots of hard work picked the wrong person.

I see that. My Mom and you have had similar experiences...my dad ended up being the one that walked, for his secretary (although my Mom had started to cheat by then too).

She is having a hard time meeting anyone, she certainly doesn't need anyone and as she says she doesn't want to get back into having to wash socks and jocks for anyone, but she is so young really I just want her to meet someone great now. She deserves to be treated well.


You know, I had been asking her for years to leave my Dad, I wish she had, I think she'd be further ahead at this stage.

We went through a tough time a few years ago but got through it and things are much better.

Basically, I had to learn how to slow down and enjoy a mellower lifestyle than I was used to, and she had to
learn not to be so sensitive and lighten up.

Divorced. Was married a year. Hell on earth. Absolutely hated it, just like I knew I would, but EVERYONE KEEPS INSISTING that you get married. In fact, I really think that's the reason I GOT married - so I didn't have to listen to the f'ing FRAUS in every damn workplace about it .... And now, I NEVER HAVE TO HEAR IT AGAIN!!! And, so, in that regard, it was worth it!
