Having your cat declawed is animal abuse

Someone needs to tell the Sterns that having cats declawed is animal cruelty. In some areas it could cause death if the cat cant climb a tree to get away from a big dog.

doubt it is a lie, hard to even find a place that declaws. that is probably why they adopted adult cats instead of kittens.

My asshole cat is declawed because we had babies at the time as well. We got him from a shelter before they had to put him down. I didn't like to do it but the kids come first so that's that. Where he was older when we got him he would not stay inside no matter what we tried. Again he had to go out or he was going back to the shelter to die. That little prick can bring down birds, mics and rats lie nothing else. And Dawg, you're right about the tree thing. He has tried to get up trees to get birds and ended up cutting his paw on rough bark.

I have always felt it declawing cats was animal abuse. Don't get me wrong it's no fun having a cat shred up your house.

Over the past decade or so my one of my family cats have torn up an entire 3 section couch.
Torn up an entire sunroom set (couch, 2 chairs, foot rest)
Torn out the window screens of all 14 windows in said sunroom.
Torn out 2 screen doors
done untol damage to the wood floor panes, tables, and chairs of the house.

This is despite the cat having scratching posts and the ability to venture outside whenever it pleases.

Nevertheless declawing an animal involved literally pulling it's nails out, think about that for a second.

Also god forbid the cat gets lost, it would be unable to fend for it self, catch any type of food, or even be able to climb up anything.
Basically the cat would be helpless.

Also, contra Booey, I feel that electric fences are abusive as well

Ironically both of these actions is far less abusive than Depace smacking his dog with a newspaper now and then

In my opinion protecting a baby, and the fact that it was either being declawed or death for the cat, is an acceptable reason for the cat to be declawed, and one of the only ones

No it's not. It sounds suitably dramatic - "death or declawing" - but it's bullshit. How about regularly trimming the cat's claws? They're not sharp enough to hurt you if you keep them trimmed.

*Oh, and if the cat has no claws, it has no business being outside.

I've never had a cat declawed. Always knew how bad it was and refused. Took forever to convince friends how bad it was. The one stupid fucker should get it! He's always after the leather pockets on my pool table! Has torn them to hell! Stupid little fucker will not learn!

I came into this thread thinking the title was something wiggy said, despising three fact that I was about to defend him. Thank dog that wasn't the case. Agree, I'd rather my shit get some claw marks than to cut off my cat's first knuckle
