Yeah right! That's insane. and to live in connecticut???? I grew up in NY state and moved to florida, in part because I couldn't afford to buy a house in N.Y.(plus I got sick of freezing my ass off 6 months of the year.) Down here I own a little house and pay 500.00 in taxes and that even includes my garbage pick up. I still love visiting the northeast, but to LIVE there? forget it!

Holy shit... He paid 1.6 million for the land only, then built a 5000 sf house.

For a rich movie buff, that home theater is pathetic.

Does anyone know what speakers he has?

I'm guessing it was around the time a person put shit in a councilwoman's mailbox.

That house is an architectural disaster. Out of proportion dormers and chimney, and overhangs, the front porch is on the freaking ground level, and it's too narrow to be very useable. Starter homes do that. Smacks of housing boom shit they threw up when people would buy anything. Then again, maybe that's how they like them up there. Let's also hope this was during construction, cause it lacks shutters and landscaping. That is a modest house plan scaled up, which can look really bad.

The good news is he's only lost maybe $350,000 in value since he built it. The market peaked within a few months of the sale date. I assume he has $1.6M all in. If not that is a real shame.

    Hunh.

Maybe (likely), it's a class thing. hard-working, blue-collar folks who worked hard to afford that furniture and didn't want it damaged?

I did say that some blinds are beautiful as well and I wasn't talking about the entire room; it's too feminine for me too. I was talking about the drapes and how to have no window treatments looks worse than both. Capisce?

Oh yeah, the dining room chairs? Padded. Had plastic on those fuckers, too.

I dunno, I'm not a clean-freak or anything, so it's difficult to understand plastic on everything. My wife and I do a spring-clean every year and steam clean the furniture. We could do it more, sure, but once a year steam-cleaning beats that bullshit plastic.
Yeah, we didn't have that much money so I doubt my parents would've sprung for steam-cleaning, ever. Plus my mother had four kids to contend with, so I guess she budgeted her free time for things other than cleaning but admittedly, in retrospect, she was a bit lazy with the cleaning and she'd freak the fuck out on you for the first week after cleaning if you got one thing out of place. Guess she didn't get the memo that "kids are messy."
