the fact is, that no matter how bad you think you have it, there are others who have had worse and have lived to see a better day. There is some Buddhist saying, whatever.. "if you are alive you can take it". There is help out there JB. Maybe get sober first?

Clinical depression and bipolar are not the kind of conditions that you can talk someone out of rationally, there's nothing rational about it. Look at how many people have everything and they are still depressed and that's because it is not situationally based, it's a neurological/chemical issue. It's just waking up day after day with no joy in your life no matter how simple a pleasure or having constant anxiety over things that don't warrant it with no end in sight. That's why people like Howard can go to therapy 3 x a week for 15 years and not get any better.
Anyway, maybe JB could give anti-depressants before calling it a day - worth a try.

Life is like one big Casino and everybody is born with a pocket full of chips and a bottomless credit card. Like playing Poker online for play money, you can lose but you get another $1K to start over. You can play tight and amass huge amounts of play money or you play crazy and lose only to start again. Thats life and the secret is to have fun along the way no matter how much you win or lose. Learn how to get satisfactions from the little wins we have each day. You wake up? Thats a win. Your car started? Another win. Something makes you laugh or smile? Another win.

Don't have all your chips in one basket. Like if your job, busniess or family life turns to shit compartmentalize things so you don't have something bring you down everywhere. I guess simpler said than done remember you can always totally cash out and close down your account but that should only be an option, not an action.

Are you depressed? Do you suffer from asshole syndrome? Little and even big wins come from trying to change negative things about yourself and how you deal with others.

Remember also, it's easy for anyone to make multiple time more money than one person may make, Howard easily makes 2-3 thousand times more than most people but do you think he can be say, 25 times more happy than most? I doubt it or he would be retarded. Would you consider yourself to be 4-6 times more sad than most? Theres medicine for that. See a decent Dr. and level with him.

Laugh at yourself. Laugh with/at others without being disrespectful. Make other people laugh. Be a better person and you'll have a better life.

i have severe depression and nothing worked for me until about a year ago i went on a very new antidepressant. i'd been on at least ten before that with no results. it can take a while to find what works for you, but it's worth it. clinical depression is a terrible thing. a very good friend of mine committed suicide four years ago. he was 25. i wasn't okay for a good two and a half years after that. believe me, when you find the right antidepressant it will be like a light turned on in your life and you won't be able to believe you used to feel the way you do now.
