Having the breasts removed does more than mitigate the chance or cancerous growth to develop, it also sets the mind at ease. Even a woman who undergoes regular mammograms and remains vigilant will have to remain constantly aware that her tits are an unwavering haven for cancer if it's in her DNA (or even if its not). It sucks to think about it all...in every aspect, but I can't fault anybody who chooses this route. It must be an awful, painful decision, but I'm sure it beats sitting around each night having to be thankful that one feels no lumps so the cancer hasn't come yet.
