Maybe I am wrong...I just don't see that b/c the British empire said "here is where Israel should be, everybody move out" is the right thing...I know I will get negged repped about this..

Make Puerto Rico the 51st state. Move the Puerto Ricans to nyc or wherever. Move the Israelis to PR. Israel is now our 51st state. Problem solved. Who wants that shit desert land anyway?
Just because the United Nations voted to establish Israel out of holocaust guilt doesn't mean it was right and didn't trigger the problems there today. If the UN voted to give the United States back to the Indians, I wonder what would be the reaction from Americans. Some thought Jews might get a piece of Germany as a home, and they even had a chance to go to Namibia before the war, but that wasn't taken seriously. Religious fanatics come in all flavors, and the Jewish ones used guilt to hijack the Middle East.
Why me, why me?
The same thing can be said about America. European Jews have lived in Israel since '48. There are generations of Israeli Jews who only know their land and culture. We can't ask them to deny their homeland because of aggression that took place 70 years ago. Sometimes you have to just accept the past.
BUT, my problem is that Israeli families and Jewish men, women and families are being flown in from Europe and relocated to the West Bank or other Palestinian territory that they're not "allowed" to settle.
Most Palestinians just want a Palestinian state. Unfortunately, many militant hardliners refuse to accept Israeli even if they get their own state. But that doesn't give Israel the right to encroach on territory that they admit isn't theirs. Having a photo-op where the IDF bulldozes an Israeli settlement in Gaza doesn't make up for the fact that the IDF is overseeing the construction of three settlements in the West Bank.
I hate that people see this shit as so black or white. There's so much more to it than "good guys" vs "bad guys."

Your black and white is awesome. When I say, "Black and white" I'm talking about the people who see this as heroes vs monsters without any regard for commonality or any attempt to have empathy for both sides in any aspect.
People want to demonize one side and automatically canonize the other. And that applies to either side of the fence. That's just something I couldn't commit to if I tried.

We could give them part of Utah, hell put em on the great salt lake they'll feel right at home with the Mormons across the lake.

I saw something today on You Tube about a serious plan that will give Arizona to the Jewish Race.
Maybe it was Aaron Russo saying that stuff....
I'm sticking with Utah after they made us go in a human fish bowl to smoke a butt in their airport back in the 90's. Funniest thing I've ever seen. 100 some odd people in this glass enclosed room in the middle of the airport that was full of smoke.

first, the modern zionist movement, beginning in the late 19th century, was largely secular in nature and led by assimilated/non-religious european jews (see theador hertzl, the so-called 'father of modern zionism'). please remember, the holocaust was merely the finale to 1,500 years of anti-semitic massacres in europe, not the beginning. furthermore, for most of the nation-state's history, the country was led largely by atheist-socialists (i.e. kibbutzes, etc).
now, is there a religous component? certainly. however, every nation in the world has a 'mandate from heaven' narrative which somehow lays theological/religious justification for why a dominant group belongs in power, the americans used manifest destiny, the english used fear of popery, the jews happen to find theirs in the old testament. nevertheless, in recent decades, the far-right religious faction of israeli politics has become increasingly more popular and vocal (with evangelical backing here in the states), just as they have become more popular in the arab world (continuous conflict and perceived failures in secularism seem to have that effect).
now, to answer: "why there?" well, to be entirely honest, it's the only place on the globe that the jews have a credible claim to. regardless of this revisionist nonsense often found here at dawgs, the jews did in fact live in israel before being thrown out by the romans for their constant rebellions (see: bar kokhba revolt, etc). yes, arabs there later were forced to convert to islam, and by the early 20th century there emerged what could now be termed a 'palestinian nationalism' as a response to zionism, but there was never, ever a 'nation of palestine' in the modern sense of the word. it was a far flung part of the ottoman empire (yes, non-arab imperialism was there long before the big bad british).
i am a zionist, in the sense that it's theirs to defend, and i choose to support them intellectually (only because their neighbor's culture and views on liberal western ideals disgust me). however, u.s. dollars need to stay here, and so all foreign aid should be cancelled (that's just my stupid opinion).
i'll shut up now...
