it kills me that they didn't do a cast album for the 2012 revival. i heard there is a bootleg video of the complete show around (some of the european traders claim to have it), but i just can't find it.

i was waiting for a bdwy revival for almost 10 years. when i saw the tickets pop up for it i had to be in front for the opening night of previews. the special effects broke down 1 minute into Superstar. The director came on stage and apologized. He said if we would bear with them for 10 min they would restart the number with everything working so we can see it in "all its glory". the woman sitting next to me was pissing and moaning about the delay. I told her "Big deal. for a 10 min intermission we get to see it twice!" Her husband agreed with me and she shut up. the arrangement was 100% as in the original 1972-73 performances but with modern audio. the theater rumbled. it was great.

you either like broadway musicals or you don't. there doesn't seem to be a half way position. i played french horn for > 10 years through high school, undergrad college, and off-off broadway. i love musicals and try to see as many as i can afford since i live so close to bdwy.

I was in high school when the original album was first released. it was for us like lady gaga's whole career is for people today. we'd never heard anything like it before.

I just watched Tommy about a month ago. I was struck by how much Oliver Reed looks like Javier Bardem. It's uncanny...

Somehow a the VCR tape of that movie with Peter Frampton and the BeeGees made it to my house when I was a little kid and I couldn't stop watching it. That was my first introduction to that music, and Aerosmith too. Man I thought they were evil and I hated them for hurting the girl
