Giftscriptions?

Can someone shed some light? I had a big gap in my HSS listening (i started in 1992 & stopped around 2001), so a lot of stuff that happened in the 2000's are unknown to me. I've seen many references to 'giftscriptions', in Beth-related threads but can't find much on Marksfriggin about them. What were they & how was Beth involved with them?

it was just some dumbass crap that beth was spokespersoning for. you basically buy a subscription for someone, the person gets some list of magazines and get to pick out what htey want. she came into the studio and talked about it around christmas.

I actually bough about a dozen of them for my cousins one Christmas because I heard Beth talking about it.

Out of all the giftscriptions I bought, only ONE of my cousins actually used it.

One of the biggest douche chill moments on the show ever.

That is the moment, Gary, Goodstein, Robin and Buchwald should have had a quiet intervention with Howard. If they would have poked a little hole into his bubble to let a little light in the last 5 years could have been so different.

Howard was on board with it. He probably hooked the whole thing up. She was only acting the way Howard has for years regarding payola checks and sponsor money that has flowed through the studio.

Oh I agree that Howard was on board for it. And like you said, he probably hooked the whole thing up but I think Howard only did so because he lacks perspective in his bubble. He was (is) no different that Joe Piscopo singing "Kimberly" to his barely legal baby sitter - the man had no clue how stupid he looks.

I also can figure that Gary's, Goodstein's and Robin's sphincters clenched when it went down and those three, along with Buchwald, were in a position to say something.
