Broadcasting on the Howard Stern channels USED to have cache.

While most known comedians (Jay Mohr, Marc Maron, Aisha Tyler etc) have podcasts they are usually erratic and lazily produced so don't make a splash. They haven't learned what Adam Carolla learned from Howard's dictum "radio is a habitual medium". Carolla puts out the well produced Adam Carolla Show 5 days a week, including holidays, and his "Ace on the House" and "CarCast" the other days in the week. I have a Carolla download everyday for my commute - something Howchie has forgotten.

That's why I thought Sabean/Buchwald would, for lack of a budget, sift through the various podcasts and bring them onto a time slot in a cohesive manner.

I listen to podcasts, and I prefer them. I can listen at my own convenience, and/or discretion. But you're right... most people don't. That's why it'd be the perfect move to put some of them on Sirius, so they could get a more broad audience, and Howie would have decent material (if he made the right choice).

Tim Sabean did ask Carolla if they could replay his podcast show in the afternoons and carolla asked for how much and Tim sabean/sirus said we will will replay it for free. when carolla heard this he said no deal.

carolla said this in an interview.

Yeah, he said that on a few interviews.

But once a week (or less) podcasts like Jay Mohr or Aisha Tyler might be willing to give it Sabean for free (and the bandwidth for downloads) since they're probably not focused enough to monetizing the product anyway.

But as I said previously, we're putting much more thought into the channels than anyone at 112 Productions.

Tim Sabean and/or Howard Stern should be seriously embarrassed to expect Carolla to offer up material for free. Hell, I'm embarrassed for them. Being a Stern fan any more is embarrassing, really.

Exactly! I used to be a proud and loud Stern fan and advocate. Converting other people to listeners and talking about the shows all the time. Staying up and making my schedule center around the show hours so I could listen live.

I heard Abe Kanan was replacing Ferrell too.
The Nick & Artie show would have a lot more listeners if they were simulcast on Howard 100 or 101. Bubba's show was the second most listened to show on Sirius after Howard when Bubba was on Sirius. I don't know how many listeners Nick & Artie have on Sirius now, but I'm sure if they moved to Howard's channels and Howard finally mentioned their show and gave them some plugs the Nick & Artie show would be the second most listened to show on Sirius.

This Abe Kanan tomfoolery has nothing more to do with than the fact that Howard no longer wants a "business relationship" with Artie anymore. That is a fact. It was said by Artie over the summer. During Artie and Howard's secret meeting at an undisclosed location, Howard said he would like them to still be friends and "bros" but that they shouldn't have a "business relationship" anymore. Howard finally maned up and said this after Artie was on his new show over six months.

I get that Artie was unreliable, a liar and violent at times but that was because he is a drug addict, alcoholic, gambling, manic depressive person. Not because he didn't care about Howard or the show. Artie hasn't missed one day of work on the Nick & Artie show (not counting the day he was suspended for pissing on the studio wall). Artie Lange will never be employed at the Howard Stern show ever again, after a couple years of that being up in the air, it's a universally accepted fact now. But having the Nick & Artie show simulcast on his channels isn't as big of a risk as having Artie back in the "Artie chair". The Nick & Artie show would reach new heights, help Sirius/XM, help the channels and be good for the fans. It should happen, and for that reason it will likely never happen.

In conclusion, Howard wants nothing to do with Arthur Lange. Howard's chicken shit "non-business relationship" was his way of squiring away from the idea of telling Artie the truth. Howard is fed up with Artie. Howard feels betrayed, Artie midas well have stabbed Howard on that doom-filled January morning. Howard not mentioning Artie and not reaching out to him isn't Howard not trying to push Artie over the edge again - Howard thinks if Artie came in-studio, something might be said that would result in Artie attempting suicide again. The fact of the matter is that Howard wants Artie out of his life. Howard no longer wants a business relationship and only wants a "personal" relationship. Apparently a "personal" relationship to Howard is calling your bro a couple times after a suicide attempt and only seeing him once in three years following the event. Artie scares Howard, even a phone call once a year or a Christmas card might be pushing it at this point. Howard only cares about himself. Howard doesn't care about Artie, his fans, the channels, the company, no one - except Howard.

These conclusions may have been true 5 years ago, but not now.

I would put a million dollars in escrow in a bet with Howard that Nick & Artie have at least 200k more listeners. Anyway, any Howard fan who is still looking for an Artie fix has already found him and the remaining have drunk the Howard kool-aid and are angry at Artie so they wouldn’t give him a chance. If anything, N&A would be doing Howard a favor by going on his channels.

N&A are doing it right: terrestrial, streaming, satellite, podcast and TV. They are making their quality show very easy to get. Minimal audiences in all those formats equal one large audience. The Rush Limbaugh model, the opposite of the Howard model. The way to go in the future.

As for Bubba, if being on Howard’s channels was such a wonderful deal why did his terrestrial/satellite setup fail?

Not only is Howard’s star fading but he is at the point of being turned into a figure of ridicule. Anyone hitching their wagon to him is going to get splattered with shit.

The only way he can save his rep is to put in KROCK level efforts or fully fund the revolution like he promised - none of which is going to happen.

Artie is the first one to admit that he fucked himself out of the greatest gig in the world. He's very respectful and gracious to Howard whenever Howard's name or the show comes up. I agree with his sentiments. But that doesn't mean Howard isn’t culpable of moral malfeasance for profiting off of Artie's death spiral. Howard could have told Goodstein to edit some of that stuff out at any time.

Here's what makes more sense to me: Howard has to be silent about Artie because there are to many clips the Tapes Team plays that demonstrate that Howard was not only aware of Artie's addiction he was egging his in studio erratic behavior. He can’t have that examined - and having Artie in, on or discussed is bound to bring it up.

You remember that little game Howard played that time when he demonstrated how he could get anyone agitated in one sentence? Howard played that game all the time without announcing it. And, he got the desired effect.

    Or just bring back Bubba.
Why yank anybody off of any channels? Just develop some god damn content out of Howard's famous notebook.

Howard has complete control over the channels, content, staff and budget. Nothing is holding him back.
