He's the epitome of how corrupt our system is. He knew he was going down, some fakes a medical condition to soften the blow and leave open a potential future bid once things calm down. Then he waits until after he wins reelection to resign so his party doesn't lose a seat.

had he resigned before the election, a new DEM candidate could have been selected, negating the need for a special election so soon after the last one. And the DEM still would have one, no doubt. This move was strictly a self serving one, J3 thought a sitting Congressman would have more pull in negotiating a deal with the G. Apparently, his lawyers told him it wouldnt make a difference, so he resigned anyway...
