Critical email that went over Howard's head

This was probably discussed in the viewing thread and I missed it but I had to ask if anyone else noticed. Today he read an email praising Tradio for taking "unfiltered and unscreened calls." Howie then said that he loved Tradio too and then replayed some boring prank call from yesterday. It seemed obvious to me that the person writing the email was mocking Howard for not taking any regular phone calls but it went right over his head. Did you guys notice it?

I guarantee Fred caught the reference, that's why he likely submitted it to howard knowing it would go over his head

I'm confused about Fred. He was never really good on-air, but he was quick with the drops and he could more than hold his own in an argument. His total passivity just seems very odd. The easy answer is that he's unhappy with the show (or his salary). Maybe he's been told to stand-down in order to make the show less interesting. Or maybe he's got early onset Alzheimers?
