i agree that it's often not a good deal, although if he pays them off (and all the nursing homes want that) and he retains his media voice, most likely the org will take care of his parents.

the one i ended up putting my mom in, made me kick in a $20k "charitable donation" to take her in. my experience is that money determines how well they care for your parents.
