fema to the states and move it to private sector, the right direction

    ...and youll have this

NEW YORK, Nov 5 (Reuters) - New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Monday launched an investigation into post-Sandy price gouging after receiving hundreds of complaints from consumers across the state.

Schneiderman said his office has received complaints from consumers from areas of the state hit hardest when the massive storm struck one week ago - New York City, the Hudson Valley and Long Island.

The largest number of complaints are related to increased gasoline prices, he said in a statement, but consumers also have reported possible gouging for emergency supplies like generators, hotels raising rates due to "high demand," as well as increased prices for food and water.

Medicare is vastly more efficient that any private insurance and no one has ever lost their Social Security when the stock market crashed.

from what i've seen this is a real issue: gas prices here are through the roof this week. generators at Home Depot in NJ that sold the Sunday before the storm for $800 were sold by the same store the following Wed for $1600. Retailers everywhere are taking advantage of the disaster.

because the Social Security administration is not allowed to invest their portfolio, and i believe they shouldn't be allowed to. anyone who is a competent fund investor would not be working in the public sector. that leaves mediocre investors, who should not be allowed to risk the SS funds. and the pros cannot be trusted to invest honestly, so keep the money out of investments.

YEAH. cause that's what the free market does. it figures shit out. like people will remember who price gouged them during the emergency, and afterwards, they'll shit all over their business.

private option was significantly higher than government option last i checked:

"New workers have to go into the new private system because the old system is bankrupt. Thus, the old system will inevitably die on the day that the last person who entered that system passes away. On that day the government will have no pension system whatsoever. The private system is not a complementary system; it is a replacement that we believe is more efficient."

we used to laugh at Chile as a banana republic

"By taking politicians out of the social security business we have done them a great favor because they can now focus on what they should do: stop crime, run a good justice system, manage foreign affairs--the real duties of a government. By removing the government from social security, we have accomplished the biggest privatization in Chilean history--someone even called it, paraphrasing Saddam Hussein, the mother of all privatizations, because it has allowed us to go on to privatize the energy and telecommunications companies."

uh, yeah, which is why people don't usually do it. and when they do, the free market is more than willing to drop some hammers on them later.
