Name a movie or series that changed your life

This movie made me fall in love with music in general. I saw it when I was 6 or so. It also made me pretty much obsessed with the USA from that moment on.

Many years later, I went to the movies with one of my best friends. It was 10 in the morning on a Saturday and we smoked weed and we were high out of our skulls.

Right after I saw that movie I went out to buy an electric guitar and I've been playing ever since. I live for that shit now.
My name was supposed to be French fries with mayo but I was drunk when I signed up.

You can also just call me "Dick".

Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Silent Running

they made me wonder at what might be possible; they spurred my interest in complex music and abstract math; they made me curious about areas I hadn't thought about as tools for control.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure(began my life-long love of PW, and made me weird)

Beetlejuice(Lydia introduced me to Goths at a young age and she became a bit of a childhood role model)

Twin Peaks(introduced me to Lynch and niche art film exploration)

Rear Window(introduced me to Hitchcock and made me fall in love with tasteful cinema)

The Crow(actually just the soundtrack, introduced me to my favorite band Joy Division)

....I could list things for days and days that hold significance for me, so I'll just stop right now.

Silent Running is what inspired Joel to create MST3K

That's another one on my list....MST3K, introduced me to camp.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off.. showed me that sometimes you just got to say "fuck it" and live for yourself at times, even if it's just a day.

The idea of a scifi story paired with a classical music composition totally designed to express the scenes in the movie musically rather than just augment the scenes is brilliant. You just don't see that kind of effort at all anymore. Schickele wrote a symphony for that movie. Like Mahler, that movie & music gave me chills.
