the trade-off is that the iphone works every time you turn it on. if you ever used a windows mobile phone in the past you know how unique that is. on my droids at least once a week i have to pull the battery out to reset it. on the windows mobile 7 phones i had to reset them every time i wanted to make a call. with an unjailbroken iphone i have never had to reset it or had it fail to work when i wanted to use it. there is something to be said for enforced stability.
