Exactly. I could not agree more with everything you said.
This is also why with Nick, they always HAD to go to commercial. With Artie, they go to commercial when they go to commercial. Nick would cut everyone off to go to commercial. He would cut off Artie, Guests, callers, everyone.
Nick was so bad at cutting everyone off and always "having" to go to commercial that I think if he could have gotten away with stepping in front of a band that was playing on the show and said-"We gotta go to break" in the middle of one their songs, he would have.
I think he especially went to break when Artie was on a roll. And Nick never, ever called for a break if he was on a roll. And I could never get why he hated it when Artie told a story from his Stern Days. Nick never cared when Artie brought up his Mad TV Days, or stories from any movies he'd been in, or whatever, but one word about his time on Stern, and forget it!
The more and more I watched, the more I got turned off by Nick. I think he made everyone jumpy too. Everyone seems more relaxed and jovial now that Nick is gone. A best case scenario I can think to go with that is this-remember when Nick would scream at someone in the studio to turn off the air over him? It was like he would wait until they were back on the air to yell at that person rather than mention the air being too cold before they went back on the air. Nick would have been sitting there long enough before they went back on the air to know the air was too much and say something. Waiting until the TV cameras and radio mic's are on to yell at someone for that is just a typical miserable douche bag Nick move.
That fight between Artie and Nick I think was the last straw. I've said many times that I think that Nick and Artie were not getting along for a while before that, and it all finally bubbled over onto the show. And I am not starting to think that the rest of the crew couldn't stand Nick anymore either, and maybe when that fight between Nick and Artie happened, they all went to the higher ups to state how they felt too. Who knows.
Nick could be a little bitch a lot of the times-and your example is a perfect example of that. That and -"I didn't get three words in all night". Oh my God I wish Artie came back with-"Ohhhhh I didn't get to say more than three words all night! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
