Congress approval rating now at 10%. They are now less favorable than telemarketers.

I haven't seen any poling data on Republicans chances of holding on to their majority. But there is no way this is good news for them.

their salaries should be tied to their approval ratings, like tv stars.

I'd prefer that they get paid according to their success in drafting and ratifying legislation that doesn't get either kicked out by the courts or unenforced by officials in the executive branch, but okay, if a popularity contest is how you see it...

politics is a popularity contest, unfortunately. like the teachers' unions they will never allow conversion to a merit pay system because most of them would starve.

i strongly disagree. that would encourage them even more to do whats popular, which can many times be different than what is best for the country.
for example, many voted for the iraq war solely because they knew they would get voted out if they didn't.

Overall approval rating has zero correlation to individual approval within districts, which is all that matters. That idea about pay based on what's enforced is fucking laughable. That's just about the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Some asshole decides to break the law and their own constitutional duty to enforce the law, whether they agree with it or not, and congress is to blame. That's some serious retard logic right there.

congress is to blame for putting partisan politics ahead of whats best for the country. that goes for both sides.
that's the main reason their approval is low. people want them to work together. if there was a magical bill that they knew for a fact would fix the economy without spending a dime, half of them still wouldn't vote for it. that's the problem

You're fucking retarded if you don't understand the executive branch's check on the legislature.
