Go turn on HGTV Million Dollar Rooms, and come back to me on why these rich motherfuckers can't be taxed a little bit more.
other countries have tried the "eat the rich" approach

I've seen some television reporting (don't know what level of confidence I have in any of it) that Romney didn't disclose his tax returns for the time when he was at Bain and other reports that during several years when he made scads of millions, his total tax paid was something ridiculous like only 15% when most Americans' tax rate is what? 28%?
What's going on is this: Romney has released his 2010 return (showing he paid 14% to the Feds) and has said he will release his 2011 return (which he has not yet filed) sometime before the election, and as his wife said a few days ago, that's all "you people" are going to get.
He's being pressured from all sides, including most Republican officials and supporters, to release more. Not doing so is damaging him politically, causing many to wonder what's so awful that he feels he'd rather take this kind of hit than do what's customary for Presidential candidates. His father, George Romney, was a pioneer in this sort of transperancy, releasing 23 years of returns.
I speculate that in at least one and possibly more years in the last decade, he paid -0- taxes on $1,000,000,000,000,000 income, which wouldn't look very good now would it?
I should correct my previous post. Most of us might have 28% of their income withheld, but that includes not just federal tax, but state, local, SSI, FICA, health insurance, etc.
Depending upon your status, your federal tax rate can fluctuate wildly. My friend has a wife, mortgage and 2 kids whom they're counting as deductions, so the federal gov't takes about 12% of their income.
I get creamed. In 2009, they took 18% of my income. No mortgage, no debt, no kids, etc.
If I find out that Romney paid any percentage lower than me, I'm gonna be pissed. There's a very, VERY good reason he hasn't released those returns.
No matter what Romney paid, it does not effect you. It is money he earned legally in the private sector. Do you think democrats do not take advantage of any tax law they can? What obama does, his policies, and when he ads 5 trillion to the debt in only 3 1/2 years, that does effect all of us.
