Billy West on the Nerdist podcast #226

    http://www.nerdist.com/2012/07/nerdi...john-dimaggio/

Really fun episode- Billy talks about being a v-o guy along with John Dimaggio (voice of Bender from Futurama, among others.) Some Stern Show talk, along with Jackie & Marge Schott impressions. Also, the guys recreate the "Red's Bar" prank calls. Hold on to your ass, 'cause you're going to laugh it off!

This has got to be better than his Carolla appearance -- what a waste that was. (They talked all over him.)

    Thanks.

Oh, definitely- this time, host Chris Hardwick pretty much sits back & lets the guys just roll.

Holy Shit. Boy were you guys right. NIGHT and DAY compared to the terrible Carolla appearance.

Shame on you, Adam Carolla! You completely wasted a huge talent.

The first 3 minutes, heck the first 30 seconds, provided more humor than a week of Carolla podcasts. And it only got better. They just let DiMaggio and West tell their stories and do characters. For a while there based on the Carolla appearance I had been wondering if maybe Billy was just a bad, unforthcoming guest. Far from it!

"Lick the shaft, paw the balls."

    Bill Clinton... Johnny Carson...

Jackie Martling calling for oxycontin. (The only time Jackie is funny is when Billy is doing him.)

Billy doing Gilbert Gottfried doing a flock of David Brenners.

Maggio doing Red from the Tube Bar. (Crazy that Billy, who made "Red" a regular on the Stern show, let DiMaggio do the part the whole time, while Billy just played the caller.)

"Who cares that this show is going nowhere, I'm having fun!"

Larry Fine's schtunger and its diagnosis by the doctor.

    Gandolfini always about to cry.

Harry Carray! (Artie's is actually funnier.)

Tracey Morgan as an alien on Penguins of Madagascar.

"A bad impression of somebody is a voice no one's ever heard before."

"Our finest hillbilly scientists have been working 'round the clock to invent hillbilly heroin."

What a great show. I didn't really know DiMaggio (and his characters on Futurama and Adventure Time sound the same to me) but he is responsible for making Steve Ballmer funny.

Oh and the late lamented Marge Schott makes an appearance.

They even speak kindly of Stern.

Thanks Chaos. I'm about 2/3 through. He does make a good interview, and because he's older than most (maybe even older than Howard... the googles say 62) he's got first-person memories of good stuff like Sid Caesar. (Carolla really blew it.) I didn't know he was a musician who had played on Letterman. His relationship with Jon Kricfalusi sounds... complicated. He more or less calls him anarchic and sociopathic.

Good stuff. The hosts are fucking awful and unfunny but John and Billy carried it so well. Listened to the earlier Billy West solo appearance, which was also great, too bad he didn't go deeper into the situation between him and John Krisfalusci.
